…and I’ll wear an octopus hat if I want to! Well, not really (I’m not that brave) but if I was what could be more fun than wearing this outfit and dancing around the streets of Paris?

I’m celebrating my birthday today with my son at kindy for the morning and my husband taking the day off. Bliss. x

Oops! Yes, it’s been a while again… I thought since it’s well into 2011 that I should get back into the swing of things and post some work! You might also notice there’s been a bit of a blog redesign, I thought the update would be nice and inspire me to get posting again. I took inspiration from Pantone’s Colour of the Year and added a little honeysuckle here and there (an easy choice since I loved this colour anyway). Hope you like the new look!

I’ll be posting some new works (and some I did last year) here very soon and am planning a shop update in the next month or so. Hope you’ll come back and check up on me. x

I haven’t done an Illustration Friday in a while… thought I’d post the rough sketch for my painting – ‘Awaiting‘. The final piece was done for the following IA Exhibition:

    Untold Stories – 15th Annual 9×5 Exhibition & Auction

After a successful show in Melbourne, the 9×5 now makes its way up to Brisbane for the first time in October, opening on 6pm Monday the 11th @ Design College Australia, 200 Barry Pde, Brisbane.  A preview of the works can be seen HERE -  there are still lots of beautiful pieces available for AUS$195 (click on an image for availability). x

Here’s this week’s Mixed Media Monday, the challenge being art. I thought since it was a broad topic I could get away with using an existing piece!

This one was commissioned as an anniversary gift from husband to wife – how sweet is that? He supplied a photo and then we built the background around it. (I heard it was greatly appreciated) x

    Thanks for popping by.

Here’s this week’s Mixed Media Monday, this was a fun one to do!

If you like the buttons I used in this pic you can download your very own copy of them FOR FREE right here. Just a little gift from me to you. x

(If you use them in a creation, I’d love to take a peek!)

Hello Spring! Yes – it’s my favourite time of year. To celebrate I’ve done this quick piece for Mixed Media Monday’s challenge ‘Warm it Up’. It’s warming up here alright, a gorgeous 23 degrees on the sunny Gold Coast. I think we’ll go for a stroll on the beach this afternoon. Thanks for stopping by! x

Awaiting. ink and acrylic on wood. 9×5″ © 2010 Honor Bowden.

Oh, hello! In case you don’t remember me, my name’s Honor and I used to post some illustrations here. : )

What can I say? Time slips by waaay too fast these days. Anyhow, here’s a brand spanking new painting I’ve done for the annual Illustrators Australia 9×5 Exhibition. All the works will be available for auction and you’ll be able to view them online. I’ll post the link when it comes out.

UNTOLD STORIES – the 15th Annual 9×5 Exhibition
Opening night: Fri 17th Sep from 6pm
Gallery open Saturday 18th Sep 10am-4pm
Where: Space 39, Level 2, 39 Little Collins Street, Melbourne

It was a bit of a challenge working on wood which I haven’t tried before. I used inks first and they bled like crazy everywhere… after switching to watered down acrylics I had a better result. I had fun though which is probably the most important thing and I’m tempted to try out some more like this.

I’ve been working on some other projects too and will share them as soon as I can! Oh it’s going to feel nice hitting that ‘publish post’ button… where is that again? x

That’s right. I’m so far past Christmas here on my poor,
neglected blog that I even missed Easter!

Have been a little busy with my boy, renovating,
and some exciting new projects though
    (I know, excuses excuses…).
If I promise to keep you posted will you forgive me? x

Anyhow, here’s a quick sketch I threw together tonight for a client
    - we’ll see if she likes it!
